Book Review – Being Small (Isn’t So Bad After All)

Have your kids ever wished they were taller like other kids? In this adorable picture book, Being Small (Isn’t So Bad After All), Lori Orlinsky tells the story of a young girl who doesn’t want to go to school because she is the shortest person in her class. She is frustrated with the disadvantages she deals with but with the help of her mom, realizes there are just as many advantages to being shorter. *This book was provided to me for free for my review and all opinions are my own. *

The beautiful illustrations by Vanessa Alexandre bring to life the little frustrations the sweet girl has on a daily basis including not being able to reach the ball when playing sports or her feet not touching the ground when sitting in a chair. Her mom is then able to help her see the many advantages she has over others who are taller than her including climbing in to tiny spaces without hitting your head and being the first they see in class photos! I love that this story teaches kids it doesn’t matter what size you are, you can do great things. Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t do. Be proud of who you are and know that we are all special in our own way.
